The double clutch transmission consists actually of two transmissions in a common housing. The even gears and the uneven gears are respectively lined on an own drive shaft and are separated from the engine by an own clutch. This allows that two gears are engaged simultaneously, but only one gear is in force closure with the engine. By the time of a gear change, one clutch opens within of only few hundredths of seconds, while the other clutch is closing. The whole act comes about automatically and almost coinstantaneous with very high speed. The gear shift is effectuated without perceptible traction force disruption with higher degree of efficiency, considerably lower consumption and reduced emissions in comparison to conventional automatic transmission.
Vehicles with double clutch transmissions feature cyber-speed information exchange and analysis of electronic accelerator, engine, transmission control as well as ABS brake and combined instruments. The transmission control recognizes the respective driving conditions and accordingly adjusts the shift points. The driver has also the option of manual gear-shifting with the tip-function.
Electro-hydraulic actuators are responsible for the gear-shifting and the clutch actuation in these transmissions. Very often they are interconnected in control blocks and assembled as modules.
Application and features
Our valve modules are applied inter alia for the activation of double clutch transmissions with dry clutches. Valves with a layout that is made for the specific application are arranged as demanded and connected in modules before they become part of the hydraulic control in the transmission. The layout of the valve plates or valve blocks is possible in many different versions. Customer specific demands regarding routing, geometry, valve mounting and valve position are considered as well as materials that are adjusted to the respective application.
