6.3 L, 510 bhp, 630 Nm - V8 AMG induction engine
The Mercedes AMG 6.3 L V8 engine combines world wide unique a a high speed concept with a big displacement volume.
The engine realizes a power of 375 kW/510 bhp at 6800 rpm and a maximum torque of 630 Nm so it is the most powerful series induction engine worldwide.
Hydraulik-Ring developes together with AMG a camphasing system for a stiff valve train and high speed.

The camphasing system
All four overhead camshafts have a stepless and variable adjustment system with a range of 42 degrees. The adjustment of the camshafts on the inlet and the exhaust side operates independent of power and speed and guarantees beside highest power and torque levels a stable idle running and low emissions. Depending of the engine speed the valve overlap can be adjusted for an optimum supply of the combustion chambers, and the best transportation of the exhaust gas. The control of the campahsing system works electro hydraulic and is checked by the engine control unit; it is driven by a double roller chain over twisted cog wheels.
