Valves for AG4 Automatic Transmissions

Hilite produces pressure relief valves for the VW AG4 automatic transmission since 1989. This valve was optimized for the use in control plates of automatic transmissions. The main features were:
- Low temperature dependence
- Low pressure-flow dependence
- High wear resistance
- Insensitive against dirt particles in the pressure medium
- Compact design
- Low hysteresis

The automatic transmission W5A 030 722.5 is derived and enhanced from the converter 4-speed automatic W4A 040 722.4. The basic difference is the additional 5th Gear.
The gear 1 to 4 and the reverse gear are shifting fully hydraulic as in the 722.5. The 5th gear is shifted electronically/hydraulically. The control unit EGS effects a shift by a solenoid valve.
For engine protection a 2 step integrated lock for backward shifting prevents by depending on oil pressure to move the selector lever from D to 3 and from 3 to 2 above fixed speed.
