The Vanecam® camphaser system optimizes the control of the intake and exhaust camshafts of an internal combustion engine to ensure the ideal valve timing for each operating condition. It improves idle quality, responsiveness, maximum torque at low engine speeds, engine performance and in-engine exhaust gas recirculation. The system is suitable for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
The Vanecam® system consists of an electromagnet that actuates the valve to control the flow of oil into the Vanecam® phasing unit. A pivoting rotor, which is coupled to the camshaft, is installed in the phasing unit itself. The oil from the engine oil circuit moves the stator, which is connected to the crankshaft via the timing chain or a timing belt relative to the camshaft. This movement is infinitely variable thanks to the Vanecam® concept and adapts to load, speed and temperature.
We also offer lightweight construction concepts made of aluminum to reduce moments of inertia. By using a special aluminum material and a coordinated manufacturing process, the required load-bearing capacities and wear protection of the sprockets are guaranteed. Depending on the design, weight savings of up to 50 % can be achieved compared to steel variants without compromising on function and operational stability.
The powerful Vanecam® standard champhaser system is further optimized by the FastPhaser® system.
The optional FastPhaser® system uses the oil that returns during adjustment through an intelligent hydraulic circuit. This enables an increased adjustment speed with simultaneously reduced oil consumption and improved functional stability in hot idling. As a result, the camphaser system can be made more compact and the functional limits of the hydraulic system can be extended. The FastPhaser® system offers these advantages without additional components and can be realized with little additional effort.
By using these champhaser systems, significant improvements can be achieved in terms of adjustment speeds and oil consumption. Adjustment speeds between 200°KW/sec are easily possible in all operating conditions with very good controllability.
